Mistakes We Have Made, Mistakes We Will Continue to Make

By Mike Roselle

Angry Women Force Policy Changes at Lowbagger.org (NOT)

Josh informs me that I have made two really big mistakes. He also informs me he knew I was making these mistakes when I made them, and mentioned it to me a few more times before we started yelling at each other. He was wrong. Our contract stipulates that I am allowed to make mistakes. Otherwise I’d never get anything done. Josh knows this. He does something called a blog. I do e-mail. Printing what I write is one of the few unpleasant things I ask him to do, just as reading this might be for you. But back to the mistakes; the first one was to say that we don’t have a staff or that none of them were women. Josh says that we do. I must not have read that e-mail. But it is true that just like us they don’t get paid. I can’t remember the other mistake but I want to sincerely apologize in advance to anyone who is offended. We will print your angry letters but don’t expect any changes. Just remember it’s really no one’s responsibility. So if anyone is offended, I was wrong, and again, I offer my sincerest apologies.

There will be other times when Josh actually will be wrong. It may be because he really believed something I told him. Or that he believed what someone else told had him. Or I may occasionally ask him to make stuff up. Other contributors might be wrong. He may actually be just plain wrong. We hope our readers, if we have any readers, and Josh assures me we do, and if you are reading this he is probably right, understand this. When he makes stuff up, Josh must also sign his real name, not his Hippie name, if he has one or gets one any time soon. This too is in the contract. Because of all of these circumstances coming together the way that they have, you will not be able to believe everything you read on Lowbagger.org. It’s Not His Fault. Get used to it.  It’s in his contract. Josh says this makes it hard on him. I say, we started with no credibility and we will keep it that way.

We hope that other important news organizations will strive to meet the same high standards of journalism that we do. If they don’t, then we hope that they will at least say so. If they do, then we still won’t believe him. Credibility is an important responsibility in journalism. If you abuse it, you will make it bad for everybody who actually has credibility. That’s why we don’t want any. It is so easy to lose that even if we did actually have credibility, we wouldn’t have it very long anyway. Some may think that it is better to have had credibility and lost it then to never have had credibility at all. We respectfully disagree. It’s our policy, it’s in our mission statement, so don’t believe us, and that’s the truth.
